This is an amazing waterfall. I've seen photos of it before this was my first time really seeing it.
The trail to this waterfall has it's own little parking lot, just south of the main enterance to the park. It's really easy to miss so watch out for it.
It's only about a 15 minute walk to the waterfall. The path is somewhat narrow and has a steep drop off of one side. I believe the waterfall is 80' tall. It ices up in the winter and is a must-see all year round.

Ask any Chicagoan where to go for outdoor activities and he will likely answer Starved Rock. It's the most popular state park in the region.
I got to the park in the late afternoon and only had time for the short trail up to the rock. The park is known for eagle watching but I thought that winter was the only time to see them. I was wrong! I saw two bald eagles this afternoon (early October) just sitting across the river.
Took some great pictures and my dog got to run some energy off. Well worth the 2-hour drive from my house.
